[ Her head tilts, eyes darting to the side thoughtfully as she briefly ponders who Loki might have met. ]

The other pirates, I'm guessing?

[ Though she might not look the part, to her, Shanks and Buggy undoubtedly do. ] We're not on the same crew, so if they gave you trouble, there's nothing I can do about it. [ Based on the wry smirk that curves her mouth as she says that, the remark's entirely meant in jest. ]

[He can’t remember for sure if Shanks or Buggy specifically mentioned her, probably not, but now he’s starting to second guess why he’s thought they were from the same world. Probably just because they had seemed so familiar on the network messages.]

Yes, that’s right. They are pirates as well. Are you not a pirate then?

[He’s honestly curious. He never really knew a pirate before coming here, but they have been rather interesting to talk to. He’s quite fond of both Shanks and Buggy.]

Can you only be friends with those you are on a crew with? [He doubts that very much, in fact knows it’s not true since he’s aware of how much Shanks cares about Buggy and he knows they are not on the same crew. But he feels like teasing her a bit, especially after she snuck up on him like that. It seems she is working the same way and he already knows they are going to get along famously.]

No, I'm a pirate. [ She smirks, lifting the glass in her hand slightly as she adds– ] I'm the navigator on my crew.

[ His question about friendships across crews leaves her shaking her head. In truth, Nami hasn't been enough pirates that weren't utterly bloodthirsty to say for sure, but from what she's seen of the idiots on her own crew… ]

Pirates do whatever they want, I think that extends to who they befriend. [ Reaching for her bottle after she finishes half her glass, Nami tops herself off before tilting the bottle in Loki's direction in offering. ] What about you? What are you supposed to be back home?

Ah, the navigator. That is a very important and well respected job. [Loki might not know about pirates, but he does know about sailing and how hard it can be to navigate waters. He is honestly impressed to hear it.]

That does make sense. I also admit to being jealous of the doing what you wish portion of your life. [He’d once been more like that himself, though that has changed drastically in the last while. He wouldn’t change it for the world, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t miss having a bit more freedom.

He nods in response to her offer of wine before answering her question.]

What am I suppose to be? Well I suppose that depends on who you ask. To some I am a god, to some I am saviour. I have been considered a villain, a hero, obnoxious and charming. It really depends on who you are and when you met me.

You think so? Keeping the idiots on my crew afloat's pretty time-consuming, nice to have my efforts recognized in some small way. [ He may not be praising her directly, but that doesn't mean she's above looking as smug as she would if he were, her mood more than bolstered by the wine, and the impulsive choice to leave her suite in the first place. ]

Interesting resume. [ She counters mildly as she tops off his wine and sets the bottle back down. ] Sounds like you stay busy back home, too. Which one of those titles is your favorite?

I do. In fact you deserve more than simple kudos if you are navigating waters and your idiot crew. [He is praising her directly, but now is more just amused by how she refers to her friends. It’s only been a few minutes and he’s already enjoying her company.]

That is one way to put it. I’m not really sure how I feel about them anymore. I used to quite enjoy people thinking of me as a villain. There is something powerful about that label. Now I am not very partial to labels at all, but if pressed, I am happy to simply say there are some who call me friend. [He knows how lame that sounds, but it’s true enough.]

[ It's an unexpectedly soft answer, one that leaves an appreciative smirk on her face, an expression she's quick to hide behind another drink from her glass. ]

You sound like you probably get along really well with Shanks. [ The other red-haired pirate at the resort is also fond of saying seemingly laid back, passingly sweet things. It's a trait she enjoys, and privately, she's pleased to spot it in Loki – it makes the prospect of spending the evening getting slowly drunk with the guy even more appealing than it was. ]

What's your world like? Big landmasses, or little islands? [ It also means she's comfortable getting to the fascinating questions without worrying too much about looking like the nerd for geography she is deep down. ]

In fact I do get along quite well with Shanks. He is quite lovely. [If he were ever to hear that someone thought he had anything in common with Shanks, he’d likely feel honoured and touched. Loki has come to think quite highly of the man and consider him a true friend in this strange place. But typically Loki is not known for being like this. It is a new part of his personality, or at least it’s a part of his personality he’s only recently started to share.]

My world? Well, it is actually quite extensive. I was raised on Asgard, which is one of the Nine known realms where I am from. Earth is another, and seems to be the one most people here are familiar with. Asgard is quite small in compared to the other realms, and very flat. I suppose you could say it is one large island as there are waters surrounding it for as far as the eye can see. The water is a constant waterfall into the void in the space between the branches of the World Tree. It is quite beautiful. Unfortunately, I have not been there for some time now.

[ Waterfalls? Voids? World Trees? His world sounds as full of fantastical intrigue as her own, which instantly makes Nami want to hear more about it. Thankfully, as easily as she indulged herself those first few questions, she can stop herself before she's demanding a deep dive on his World Tree, and how everything doesn't just slide off the side. ]

It sounds kind of hard to get to, or leave. Is that why you haven't been back?

Indeed it could be rather difficult. The only way to easily travel between realms was by harnessing the energy of the Bifrost, which is something the people of Asgard had been doing for some time. Though the bridge we used to access it was destroyed the last time I was there.

[He glances away then, trying to hide the shame he now feels for his part in that. Even if he does know that other means of travel were figured out afterwards.]

But no, that is not why I haven’t been back. That, however, is quite a long story that I’m afraid does not paint me in the best light.
