Odin? Silvertongue? Ha! No. He was definitely adept at lying though so I can see how some might mistake that. Though he never had the flair I did.

I do rather enjoy music. Has he managed to compose anything since arriving here?I would not mind hearing some of his selection if that is at all possible.

And he's composed a lot here, since he has a recording studio inside his suite! I know he's been working on some of the same stuff he was writing at home, and then he also made a few songs for our shuffle unit. That's what we called the temporary unit made up of me, Jun-kun, Leo-kun, and Rinne-senpai.

[Though Rinne is gone now, so their shuffle unit is on indefinite hiatus. He doesn't want to spoil the mood by mentioning that, though.]

He's a Rank 10, just like you are right now! Though he got bumped down to 5 thanks to that clerical error. Hopefully he'll get his studio back soon, though. I know he doesn't like being without it.

[Hiyori assumes the ranks are randomly assigned. He hasn't really been able to discern any pattern to them. Although he does wonder if Jun might've cursed himself by assuming he'd be a low rank back when they were wildcards.]

You could always reach out to him first if you'd like to get to know him better! You could even extend the invitation to him yourself if you want. But I understand if you're busy with other party preparations, and I obviously don't mind doing it, so either way works.

Yes I see. Well I must admit this suite is much more roomy than I have become accustomed to here, but mostly I am just delighted to have a private bathtub. I have missed taking a nice long soak.

[Loki, on the other hand, assumes he was given a low rank as some sort of punishment. Not that it has affected him too much. It’s not like he had all the amenities at the TVA either.]

I bet! I love a good bubble bath too. There's nothing more relaxing! 😊 The public bath here isn't too bad, but nothing beats a private bath. Plus some of the bath salts were defective. One of them turned the water super cold, and another turned it super hot!

[Between Loki's comments on glitter and his apparent love for baths, Hiyori may or may not be plotting to get him a glitter bath bomb for his birthday.]

I could not agree more. I have mostly avoided the public baths here. The temperature is never right for me, even when the salts are not causing such havoc. And I do prefer my alone time while bathing. I like that time for relaxing and not thinking, but one would have to be on guard in a public bathhouse in this place.

[Not that sexy times in the bath couldn’t be a good time, a fantastic time even, but Loki prefers to be able to choose that option when desired.

And Loki just might find a glitter bath bomb both hilarious and annoying. Just enough so that he might try to top that gift on Hiyori’s birthday.]

Yep, I totally feel the same! A bath should be just right: not too hot and not too cold! Otherwise, I can't relax!

Though an extra-hot bath can feel nice when it's cold out.

Also, you never know what people have been doing in the baths in this place, so it's best to just use your private one!

My thoughts exactly. I do not feel the cold so much, so I don’t often tend to have very hot baths, but the real point is that not everyone enjoys the same temperature, so I do not know how they think to moderate the temperature there. It simply cannot be desirable for all.

That is for certain. I am sure they claim to clean everything, but we can hardly be blamed for not believing that.

[Loki is one of those people who has not been so lucky, so for the short amount of time he has the 10 suite, he’s taking full advantage.]

I do find many people a fan of the holidays. It was a time I enjoy a lot when I was young, but I haven’t had much opportunity to celebrate more recently.

I am glad to hear he’s been keeping up with that. You deserve nothing less.

I suppose you are right. I think we should try to have a good time in spite of this place. I believe it is only on the surface that they really care about our wants and needs. If they truly wanted the best for us, they would not have brought us here without permission. That and all of us would have liveable suites.

I do not think that wanting to enjoy the holiday season means you have forgotten your goal of leaving this place. We cannot work constantly, that only leads to burnout.

Yep, "only on the surface" sounds about right. They have all the luxury goods you could ever want here, at least for some people. But they don't care about our freedom or our emotional needs! Kind of like a parent who leaves their child money every morning instead of making breakfast.

I suppose it could be worse. They could make it so we all have only what is available on the lower floors, though it all makes me wonder what the real purpose is. It seems they wish for us to attempt to move up in rank, but what of those that start off higher? What is their motivation? Are they simply relying on them not wanting to drop in rank?

I suppose it’s possible we are being trafficked in some way. We do not, after all, truly know why what we do here is so important to whomever is running this place.

I've wondered that since I got here. I don't know that we'll ever get an answer, but I guess there are a few possibilities.

1. It sounds a bit far-fetched, but if everyone started out low-ranked, we might not believe them when they say they'll improve our lives if we rank up. They need the higher-ranks as living proof of that. So, the higher-ranked guests serve as an example of what the lower-ranks could have, as well as a target of envy. They're important to the ecosystem, so they need at least some people to be high-ranked straight from the get-go.

2. With the lower-ranks, they're hoping to induce Stockholm Syndrome, or a competitive spirit. With the higher-ranks, they're trying to instill "gratitude." Someone might feel more inclined to obey you if you give them all sorts of lovely things. Especially if they came from nothing before.

3. They need the ranks to be spread out so that the game seems winnable! Whether or not it actually *is* winnable is a different story, though.

[And then he gets to the trafficking line, and... ergh. He's had that thought before himself a bunch of times, but not what he wants to think about! Especially so close to the holidays!!]

Yes, I suppose all of those are possible. Perhaps they are even all true at the same time. One thing that seems to be the case here is that whatever is happening, it is quite complex, whatever the plan happens to be.
