I do hope that is true. That really was not what I had planned for the get together, but this place always seems to have other plans in mind.

[Loki likes to think that he can resist anything this place throws at him, but with each time something like this happens, he becomes more and more aware of how untrue that is. Not that he’s going to let anyone see him give up.]

I am really just sick and tired of how this place likes to to take advantage of us. I suspect they did not believe I have been active enough.

[Another thing Loki won’t willingly admit to is that this might have worked. If he can have more freedom and avoid some of these pitfalls and all he has to do is have more sex? Then he’ll do it. He really doesn’t want to be that out of control again.]

["Not active enough." He feels a rush of anger at the House when he reads that. It's depressing, seeing Loki make his disappointment and embarrassment known. Not that Hiyori can blame him. He'd be reacting much the same if that had been him. And in fact, he'd dreaded his birthday because he feared something like that might happen. It's with a twinge of guilt that he admits:]

Some people do get cursed on their birthdays. It didn't happen to me, but it did happen to Rinne-senpai and someone else I know. Then Jun-kun sort of got cursed too, though it was more of a minor thing that could be shrugged off.

[He should've warned him. It just slipped his mind, because it's honestly been a while since he heard of anything like that happening. Jun's birthday "curse" was a funny little thing, no suit activation involved. And the curse he was dreading never hit him on his birthday.

It is okay. I had heard word that some had things happen to them on their birthdays, but somehow it didn’t occur to me that I could be affected. I don’t typically celebrate my birthday at all so I didn’t think much of it. It is not your fault. I should have been paying more attention.

[He really doesn’t blame Hiyori for anything. As always, it is the House to blame, and Loki for not preparing himself properly.]

No forgiveness is needed, but I will take you up on your kind offer. You do not have to worry about cooking for me, or rather Jun does not. But I do appreciate it.

Well, no matter how much you pay attention, you can never predict everything. This place loves catching us off-guard. I wonder if they did nothing to me on my birthday just because I already expected them to, and they thought it might lull me into a false sense of security.

Or they just forgot me, but that's not very likely, is it?

And they do seem quite adept at it. I like to think of myself as good at these things, but I have been caught out just as much as anyone else. It does seem unlikely that they would forget you, of all people. I would be careful on your next birthday though, if you are still here. Maybe they will double down.

I tried some popcorn not long prior to my arrival here. It is quite an interesting snack. I would love to try some again.
